Students’ are required to complete .5 credits of economics classes.  There are several ways that a student can satisfy this requirement at Career Tech High School.  Students can take two classes using Glencoe Economics Principles & Practices. Also students can take a class on Plato for one quarter credit.  This packet details the two quarter credits available through Glencoe’s economics text.  

 

Students must complete any two of the following three classes:

Economics on Plato plus two short writing assignments per teacher...................................     .25 credits

Economics (Glencoe) Chapters 1-10 (pages 1 – 281)......................................................     .25 credits

Economics (Glencoe) Chapters 11-20 (pages 285 – 565)................................................     .25 credits

  • Students will read and respond to Glencoe’s Economics.  Students will complete all Section Assessments  and Chapter Assessment  parts “ Identifying Key Terms”, “ Reviewing the Facts” and “Applying Economic  Concepts”..
  • You must use complete sentences, unless the question calls for you to simply fill in the blanks.
  • Sections 2 and 3 of the chapter’s “Reviewing the Facts” require a solid paragraph of approximately five sentences, filled with supporting details.  Do not skimp!

Work for the class should be emailed weekly.

  • Student work that will earn an A or B grade is characterized by the following: accurate and correct; detailed; answers questions completely and thoroughly; uses complete sentences.
  • Student work will be assessed using the state Reading Scoring Guide and the State Writing Scoring Guides.  These scoring guides are the ones that are used to score the reading and writing samples for the CIM.  All assignments must be completed in order to earn credit for the course.  All assignments must be completed to the satisfaction of the teacher in order to be accepted for grading (i.e. Expect to be involved in editing for proper grammar, mechanics, format, spelling, adequate length, appropriate content, etc.).
